HBO Max, JJ Abrams and The Justice League Dark
.
Earlier this week it was announced that JJ Abrams and his production company Bad Robot had three series green lit for the HBO Max streaming service. The announced series are a spinoff series based on “The Shining”, a new series titled Duster made in collaboration with writer Latoya Morgan and a series based within the DC Comics Justice League Dark Universe. The Chief Content Creator for HBO, Kevin Reilly, said in a statement “What could be better than an original J.J. idea and then Warner Bros. letting them loose on iconic IP from Stephen King and the DC Universe and to provide more must-have programming on HBO Max.”

We first wrote about a Justice League Dark series back in January when Deadline ran an article that suggested Bad Robot was producing the series. The Justice League Dark project is described as an untitled series based in the Justice League Dark universe and while this could bring the Swamp Thing character or even John Constantine back onto the small screen there has been no confirmation on which characters will be appearing.

The first published DC Justice League Dark comic book series came out in 2011 during the DC New 52 run – the first issue of this series has seen a lot of interest over the last few days as its the first published appearance of the Justice League Dark name. This second printing of this book is also selling well online.

Two back issues that have historically sold well are what has been suggested as the first appearance of the Justice League Dark Team – Swamp Thing #49 and Swamp Thing #50 from the 1986 Alan Moore run. These books feature the first time the characters that make up the Justice League Dark appear together.

I’d really only be interested in Swampy and Constantine.
I hate that there is a cluster of folks out there pushing those phony old Swamp Thing books as the team’s first appearance when the literal name of the team wasn’t used for what, more than 20+ years after those books have some heroes hanging out with each other for a one-off story? Stop it.
