In recent memory The Adventures of the Pussycat #1 has become a very sought after book. The Adventures of the Pussycat #1 or Pussycat #1 (as CGC classifies it) was published by Marvel comics in 1968 and features reprinted comic scripts that originally appeared in various “Men’s Adventure Magazines”. The magazine is 50 pages and has stories featuring The Pussycat – a sexy secretary working for S.C.O.R.E. – The Secret Council of Ruthless Extroverts. Amazing Heroes magazine called this character “Marvel’s Most Curvacious (and obscure) super-spy“. The book is filled with double entendres and adult themes.

The comic strips first appeared in 1965 and were written by Stan Lee and later his brother Larry Leiber featuring artwork by Wally Wood (layouts), Bill Ward, Jim Mooney and Al Hartley. The artwork was edited for the Marvel Magazine where some of the female characters were given clothes or less revealing clothing. Foreign language versions were published unedited.

There are only 36 graded copies of this magazine and the highest graded is a 9.6 which sold in 2016 for just under $4000.  There is also a 40 cent price variant of this book and there are only three copies on the CGC census.  GPA recorded prices show that in recent years this book has been trending down, however, this is a very important book within Marvel’s history. This book features artwork by legendary creators Bill Ward and Jim Mooney while also having scripts written by Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee. While this book is currently trending down its only going to be a matter of time before it starts to rebound. As far as high end sought after books, this magazine isn’t going anywhere.
