Hivemind, the production company behind The Witcher and comic properties Gideon Falls and Weird Fantasy, has signed on to produce a TV series based on the 1970’s novels, The Illuminatus! Trilogy. The original novels are a three part trilogy with five books total; The Eye in the Pyramid, The Golden Apple and Leviathan all written by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson.

The stories are based on a number of subjects like conspiracies and counterculture. The history of the material from the writers is very interesting and I would encourage you to look it up on Wikipedia (and take it with a grain of salt).

Onto the comics! There are two different publishing’s of material related to the novels. There is a one-shot issue from Eye-n-Apple Productions from 1987. There is also a three issue series from Rip Off Press that was published in 1991. Both are going to be tough to find in the wild.

As of writing this there are a few copies of each available online. Will this news relate to the comics? Hard to say. Sometimes with properties like this they do and sometimes they don’t, but I think the show could be a big hit. Hopefully we will hear more on this in an upcoming scheduled interview with Dinesh Shamdasani, co-founder of Hivemind, with Comic Book Wars podcast member and Weekend Update writer Nico.
