Superman’s Secret Identity
.
This week saw the release of Superman #17 written by Brain Michael Bendis and it looks like DC is trying to make a major change with the Superman character. While it hasn’t been confirmed it looks like DC is going to reveal the identity of Superman’s alias in the next issue of Superman, Superman #18 – preview pages from this issue and the solicitation description show that Superman is revealing a secret “to the world”.
.
.
I’m not sure what DC’s plan is with Superman. Is he going to step down and go into exile? Are the characters from the Watchmen going to make a come back into the DC Universe? Are the Wonder Comics Imprint characters going to start becoming more relevant? (The Young Justice team are referenced in Superman #17). I Don’t know. But one thing I have started to notice is that the cover B for Superman #17 has started to move online. Cover price buy it now’s are becoming increasingly harder to find on ebay and there are currently two no reserve auctions for the book, one currently at $6.81 and one at $17.50.
.
.
Nothing of significance happens in Superman #17 – everything leads into something big happening in the next issue – Superman #18. Superman #17 sold out at the distribution level before its release. If early sales of Superman #17 are an indication of anything – I would think now is a great time to start preordering copies of Superman #18 – while I don’t think this is a great book for long term potential I do think this new “revelation news” will create a great window of opportunity for sales of both of these books.
.
Superman #18 is released on December 11 2019 and has two covers.

What do you think? Am I totally off base? Is Superman #17 cover B only selling because of the Adam Hughes Cover art? Let me know in the comments or on social media!

It’s a gorgeous Hughes Trinity cover. Tons of folks collect these.
I don’t think the storyline will do much for the value long term. That Hughes cover is pretty nice and may be a classic in the making.
