Speculating on ‘Into The Spider-Verse 2’
Space
Last week the first teaser video for Into the Spider-Verse 2 was posted online. In it we saw the Spider-Man Logo with the numbers 2022. The logo appears to glitch for a few seconds and that’s the entire teaser. Since this teaser hit the internet, online marvel fan sluthers have found various spider-man logos within the teaser and are speculating that these characters are to appear in the upcoming film.

So far over 20 different logos have been identified. None of these new characters have been confirmed for the new film but why else would they put these logos into the trailer? Here are some of the more interesting ones.
I am not talking about the Japanese Spider-Man because that character was confirmed earlier this week by Spider-Verse producer Phil Lord.

The picture above is believed to be a representation of the Superior Spider-Man character. The Superior Spider-Man was Otto Octavius in the body of Peter Parker. While this character does make a brief appearance in Daredevil #21 published in February of 2013. He made a full appearance in Avenging Spider-Man #15.1 and Amazing Spider-Man #700 – both books were published on the same day. While Otto Octavius assumed the identity of Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man #698, I would stick with the previously mentioned three books.

It is believed that the spider-man logo above represents Ben Reilly, the Scarlet Spider-Man. This character first appearances in Web of Spider-Man #118. The Scarlet Spider-Man also had a very popular solo series published in 2012, this was the second volume of the Scarlet Spider series.

The above logo has a moon on the top of it, which is being speculated on as a signifier that Cindy Moon is entering the Spider-Verse! Cindy Moon is Silk, she first appeared as Cindy Moon in Amazing Spider-Man #1 (2014) and as Silk in Amazing Spider-Man #4 (2014). Amazing Spider-Man 4 (2014) has several variants that sell for three digits!

The above logo represents Spider-Punk. Spider-Punk is Hobert Brown who first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #10 (2015).

The Above logo is allegedly for Captain Universe Spider-Man. This characters first and only appearance is in What If Volume 2 #30. This book features the story What If Spider-Man had not lost his cosmic powers.

The above logo is for the “Bombastic Bagman” or The Amazing Bag-Man. This was a costume Peter Parker wore in the Baxter Building in Amazing Spider-Man #258 published in 1984.

While some are saying the above logo represents the Negative Man character (not a Peter Parker in any universe or a Spider-Man) others are saying it is Ghost Spider (Peter Parker) which makes sense. This Ghost Spider character first appeared as Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #38 (2011) and became Ghost Spider in Incredible Hulks Annual #1 (2011).

The last logo I want to talk about is the one above. This is believed to represent the Iron-Spider. A character that has already been highly speculated on. This character first appeared in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man #529.

What are your thoughts on Amazing Spider-Man #149 as the first appearance of Ben Reilly? Seems like a better spec than the heavy print run of W.O.S. Also, isn’t the first appearance of Negative Man in the 2007 F.C.B.D. ish?
Was all excited that I scored the first appearance of the Punk Spidey after reading this piece off ebay for $8 “NM”….only the person’s definition of NM was NOT the actual grade – large color scuff on the cover and a totally white bottom spine-side corner. Seriously, it is the 3rd book I’ve had to send back to someone to get a refund. Do none of these people have any pride? If I don’t get these books off ebay, where in the world can I find them at this point? Back issues aren’t super-plentiful in the Philly-area.
