A lot has been going on in the last few days and here is a run down of a few things I havn’t talked about. Also With Marvel announcing 40-something titles to start at issue #1 in October I’m not sure what to think about buying Marvel books.

The Squirrel Girl Second / Third Prints of the Ryan North Series seem to be a hit with special variant covers each with a word spelling out “Squirrel Girl Kicks Butt !!!”. The clear winner is Squirrel Girl #5 Second Print – featuring a Venom / Squirrrel Girl and the immortal letters – “!!!”. This book (3.99 book) has been selling for around $10 AND has a lot of potential to continue going up.

Some big news out of hollywood this week relating to two titles.

T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, originally published by Titan comics and created by Wally Wood (the real creator of Daredevil) has been optioned for a movie. This is big news because the Thunder Agent books have almost always been in bargain golden age bins only getting attention largely because of there connection to Wally Wood. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #1 published in 1965. DC recently bought the option to publish new T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents comics pre-NEW 52, written by Nick Spencer, and it was largely panned by the comic book community. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #1 from 1965 features the first appearance of Dynamo and WILL increase in value as more movement is made on the project.

Another title that was picked up for a hollywood project – this time a television series is Jeff Smith’s RASL. Jeff Smith is most notably known for his self-published book Bone – republished by scholastics and available in almost every public schools book library. Rasl is a little more adult but still in the vein of Jeff Smith’s other universe building work. RASL #1 has steadily sold for $20 in near mint condition at Comic Conventions and occasionally on ebay. Currently CGC 9.8s are selling for up up $100 and raw copies are on the rise.
The book to look for is the Comicspro Retailer Variant. Only available to a few select retailers, this book has under a 1,000 print run and is the book that will increase the most in value in the next few days. RASL #1 is a book to be looking for – hopefully this leads into news and hollywood interest in  BONE.

  • Another “reboot” by marvel? I’ll obviously pick up my Amazing Spider-Man and Deadpool, but getting really tired of these relaunches every 2-3 years.

  • no one seems to comment on here. But I just want to thank you. You are much faster than others with news about tv/movie options. I missed this post yesterday and now I missed out on Rasl #1 for cheap. I saw the news on another site and it was barely posted today. So I just wanted to say thanks, I usually buy comics you recommend or speculate on!

    • I was able to pick up 2 Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #5 though! (2nd Printing). Saw it their and remember you posting about it so i grabbed them both as fast as I could haha
