Week in Review: August 12, 2020

.

Hello and welcome to the week in review on Comicbookspeculation.com – home of the original week in review – where we go over all of the hot books being released to comic book stores. Here are the books that I think are noteworthy that come out this week.

.

This is a big week for first appearances. First up we have what DC is calling the first appearance of the Robin King character. Last week we wrote about Dark Knight Legends Metal #1 featuring the first appearance of the Robin King – even featuring the character on the 1:25 cover art variant – but this week sees the release of Dark Nights Death Metal #3 – a book that DC has stated is the real first appearance of the character. While this book has been selling in presale for $20 to $30 it has since dropped to $10 to $15. This book has two covers as well as a one in 100 variant cover that has several sales for under $100.

Venom fever continues with this week’s Venom #27. This book features what is being labeled as the first appearance of the Codex character and possibly more unnamed characters. While this book has sold out at the distribution level sales are definitely trending up on this book.

Another Marvel book that has seen some interest online is the Strange Academy #2 second print that is released this week. This book has several sales ranging from $8 to $10.

One last book I want to highlight is the one in ten Jenny Frison variant cover for Red Mother #7. This image comic book ratio variant has several sales averaging $40 to $50.
