Week in Review: June 24, 2020

Hello and welcome to the week in review on Comicbookspeculation.com – home of the original week in review – where we go over all of the hot books being released to comic book stores. Here are the books that I think are noteworthy that come out this week.

This is the week of the ratio variant cover! The first one i want to talk about is the one in ten variant for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Jennika #3. This is the last issue of the Jennika mini-series and the one in ten variant features cover art by up and coming fan favorite Peach Momoko. This book has been selling in online presale for $35 to $40.

This week sees the release of the 50th issue of the Boom Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. This issue has several covers but the stand out is the one in one-hundred Inhyuk Lee variant cover. This book has been selling for $200 and seeing how most of the high end ratio variant covers for this series keep going up in value – this is a great book to be looking for.

Moving onto DC Comics – this week sees the release of Batman #93. This book features the first appearance of the character “The Designer” and like the previous issue has a one in twenty-five ratio variant cover. This book has been selling in presale for $60. This book also features the first time Punchline and Harley Quinn meet – some speculators are pointing out that the recent Harley Quinn on-going series is abruptly ending suggesting that Punchline could kill off the character. It will be interesting to see how this develops.

While we are talking about DC Comics – this week also sees the release of Justice League #47 – a book that has sold out on many online comic book marketplaces. While this book isn’t selling above its cover price, Key Collector alerted that this is the first appearance of a “monster that rules in Tatarus”. Like most of DC’s releases this book has two open order covers.

Onto Star Wars – the one in twenty-five ratio variant cover for Star Wars Bounty Hunters #3 has been selling online for $25 to $40. The IDW Star Wars series, Star Wars Adventures: Clone Wars Battle Tales #2 has a one in ten variant – like with the previous issue this variant has been selling well in presale selling for $20 to $30. This book features Boba Fett on the cover so I really wouldn’t be surprised if this book doubled its current sale price.

The last variant I want to talk about is the one in twenty-five ratio variant cover for Thor #5. This book is written by Donny Cates and this variant cover features artwork by Esad Ribic. This book has been selling for $50 to $70.

One last book I wanted to talk about that I think has some potential down the road is the last issue of the Spider-Ham mini-series. Spider-Ham #5 features a homage cover to Amazing Spider-Man #238.
