Earlier today Charles Murphy of Murphys Multiverse reported that Marvel is looking to cast an actress as Echo. This is based on a very recent casting call put out by Sarah Finn calling for a “deaf female, Native American, First Nations, Indigenous or Latinx, 18 or older, to play the role of “Malia” in an upcoming Disney Plus series set to shoot this Fall.” The casting call says the actor should be independent, athletic and bright with the character falling in the 20 years of age range.

The character described does sound like the Echo character who has appeared as a supporting character in various Daredevil story-lines. While it hasn’t been confirmed which project this character is to be cast for – it could very well be for the Hawkeye series or maybe even a unannounced Daredevil project.

Echo first appears in Daredevil #9 from the David Mack / Joe Quesada 1999 run. Echo later becomes Ronin in New Avengers #11 from 2005. Since this news broke earlier today Echo’s first appearance has shot up on online marketplaces like Amazon and Ebay – however copies can still be found for reasonable prices in the wild.
