DC and the Gold Lantern

This week saw the release of The Legion of Superheroes #6. This book has since sold out at the distribution level and was at one point selling for $20. This issue features three new characters joining the Legion of Superheroes – The Monster Boy, a new Doctor Fate and The Gold Lantern. While these characters were pushed as first appearing in this issue – all three characters have previous appearances and they simply join the Legion of Super-Heroes in this issue. All three of these characters appear in a one panel appearance in both Superman #14 and Supergirl #33. Both of these books were released on the same date and both of these books had to be recalled – so there are two versions of these issues. This would be considered cameo appearances at best. While the original recalled issues were sent to retailers the same week – the corrected versions were not released in unison.

The gold lantern also appeared in Superman #15, The cover B’s for Legion of Super Heroes #1 and #2, the Local Comic Shop Day Variant for Legion of Super Heroes #1 and Legion of Super-Heroes #3 – making Legion of Super Heroes #6 the seventh appearance of the character.

While DC has solicited a second print for The Legion of Superheroes #6 and have even offered a one in twenty-five ratio variant for the printing – Both Superman #14 and Supergirl #33 are great books to be looking for if you are speculating on this character.
