Hollywood Daze: Ball and Chain

.

I feel like we hit a real dry spell the last few weeks in terms of comic book related news. Today news broke that the obscure comic book Ball and Chain was headed towards the big screen. Deadline is reporting that Emily Blunt and WWE superstar Dwayne Johnson are attached to the film set to play the main characters Edgar and Mallory Bulson. Ball and Chain was published in 1999 by Wildstorm Comics Homage Studios Imprint as a four part mini-series written by Scott Lobdell and featuring artwork by Ale Garza and Richard Bennett.

The original Diamond Comic Book solicitation describes the series as “a surprising miniseries that may be comics’ first super-powered romantic comedy! After three years of a tumultuous marriage, Edgar and Mallory Bulson have decided to throw in the towel. That was the plan anyway, until a mysterious meteor bathed the battling couple in extraterrestrial energies…energies that gave them super-powers! Will their newfound abilities be enough to make their marriage work?”

While most of the reasonably priced copies have flown off of online marketplaces, this is a book you should still be able to find in the wild.
