Spotlight on “Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic”

This was brought to my attention on the Comic Book Wars facebook page by Burt D Mone.

This book has definitely piqued my interest. Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic.
This is a promotional comic book that was produced by the United States Center for Disease Control. This book follows a young family who try to stay safe and level headed through a burgeoning zombie apocalypse. This comic was designed to educate the public on how to follow the basic Center for the Disease Control disaster preparedness instructions.

.
This book was produced to help educate the public on what to do during a Pandemic – making this book have very eerie similarities to the current Conorva virus.
While this book is available online for free – it was produced in limited quantities as a give-away and was given away at a few events including the 2011 New York Comic Con. While a copy sold earlier this week on ebay for just over $60 – this book can still be found on retailers like Amazon – which have copies listed at $10.

Thanks for the shout out (as those young kids say nowadays). This book has been produced at least three ways I think. The newest is using the cover that’s displayed, but perfect bound – where the spine is glued together. The original had been saddle stitched (stapled in two places). The back cover of the original has no text or graphics, just a number corresponding to the CDC publication number. The other cover has two white stripes on the front and has “Compiled by Dr. Brian A. Williams PHD” which I think was copied from the CDC website pdf files and produced in 2012 by Amazon. This last point I am not 100% sure about.
