Earlier this week Netflix released more information about their upcoming Netflix exclusive film, Extration – starring Chris Hemsworth. Along with official photographs we’ve learned that Extration will be based on the Oni Press Graphic Novel Ciudad, which was published in 2014 and written by Andre Parks with Joe and Anthony Russo.

The original synopsis for Ciudad from the original publisher solicitation reads “She was kidnapped and taken to the worst place on earth. He was hired to get her out. Now, they’re both trapped in a city that wants them both dead, and their hopes of getting out are fading fast. From the bloodthirsty criminals, to the corrupt police, to the kid hiding a Glock under his sweatshirt on the corner, everyone wants Tyler Rake and Eva Roche dead.” The film adaptation has two male characters instead of a male and a female but it seems to be approved by the comic books creators as Joe Russo is credited as the films screenwriter.

Ciudad is long sold at the distribution level but it does seem to be on the rise on the secondary market. This book has a $19.99 cover price and is well worth looking for in the wild. Extraction premiers on Netflix on April 24, 2020.
