Week in Review: February 19, 2020
.
Hello and welcome to the week in review on Comicbookspeculation.com – home of the original week in review – where we go over all of the hot books being released to comic book stores this week. Here are just some books that come out this week that I think are interesting.
.
This is a very big week for new releases – the first book I would like to talk about is the highly hyped up Batman #89. This book features the first cameo appearance of the all-new character Punchline. We spoke about this last week when DC first announced the new Punchline character. While Batman #89 is long sold out at the retailer distribution level it has been selling in presale online for $30 to $40. This book has two covers and since this book only features a one page panel appearance of this new Punchline character you should be thinking about next week’s release of Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3 which features the first full appearance of this new character (and has been preselling for $25!)

Another DC book that comes out this week that is well worth picking up is Flash Forward #6. While this book hasn’t been selling over its cover price it is a monumental issue that will help redefine the shape of the future DC comic universe. Flash Forward #6 leads the way into DC’s all new event and continues in May’s Free Comic Book Day Generation Zero #NN which leads into DC’s next big storyline event. DC sent a digital preview of this issue to retailers a few weeks ago which is when we found out that in this issue Wally West (Flash) becomes the new Dr. Manhattan. (Possibly linking back to Doomsday Clock #12’s last page). This book has two covers and I think they’re both books with great long term potential.
.
.
Bang #1, the first issue of the new Matt Kindt Darkhorse mini-series comes out this week. The Key Collector App indicated that “Pieces are falling into place for some bigger news to come” involving this title. We first talked about this title in December when Dark Horse released a preview ashcan. While the Ashcan seems to be selling for $25, the all new Bang #1 issue has been selling for $10 to $15 in presale online. This book has two covers.
.
.
One other book that comes out this week that has a few noteworthy sales is the one in twenty five variant cover for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Jennika #1. This is the spin-off female Ninja Turtle series and this variant cover, featuring artwork by Freddie Williams II, has had several presale sales around $40 to $60. Recently prices have dropped down to around $30. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Jennika #1 has a few store variants so this isn’t a book that would be in short supply.
