Week in Review: February 12, 2020

Hello and welcome to the week in review on Comicbookspeculation.com – home of the original week in review – where we go over all of the hot books being released to comic book stores this week. Here are just some books that come out this week that I think are interesting.

Another week of news releases and another all new Boom Studios #1 issue. This week see’s the release of Alienated #1 from Boom Studios – another title that has already gone into a second print before the first print was released. This series is written by Simon Spurrier and features artwork by Chris Wildgoose. While the regular cover doesn’t have any noteworthy sales – this book has a one in twenty-five ratio variant that has two sales ranging from $35 to $50.

Another ratio variant that comes out this week that has been selling well on the secondary market is the one in twenty-five variant cover for Star Wars Rise of Kylo Ren #3. Like with previous issues, the first print of the third issue have started to heat up online – while the regular cover has been selling for $6 to $7 – the variant cover has multiple sales around $50. This week also sees the release of the second print of Star Wars Rise of Kylo Ren #2 – which has been selling for just under double its cover price at $7.

This week also sees the release of the first Skottie young “Artist Variant” for Venom (Volume 4) #23. This books Skottie Young cover features Venom, Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman. This book has multiple sales online above its cover price.

Another book that comes out this week that I think has some great long term potential is the one in two-hundred ratio variant cover for Gwen Stacy #1. This book features the virgin cover art of the Jee Hyung Lee cover. This book has a $4.99 price tag so I’m not sure how many retailers would order enough copies to qualify for this high ratio variant.
