DC is telling readers to “GET READY FOR PUNCHLINE”

On Friday night DC sent out a press release to retailers notifying them of a new character joining the Batman Universe. This is odd for a few reasons, DC doesn’t usually send out press releases about new characters and all of the books featuring this new character are well past retailer final order cut off. As a result of this, in presale, the first appearance of this new character has started to heat up on the secondary market. The full press release can be read below,

The mysterious new villain pops up on February 19 in a one-panel cameo in Batman #89 ( DEC190444 – DEC190445).
One week later, Punchline makes her full-on debut as The Joker’s latest—and deadliest—henchwoman in Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen#3.
To meet anticipated demand for Punchline’s first full-fledged appearance, Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3 will have a significant overprint. This issue is available for advance reorder under item codes DEC190434 – DEC190435.

The first appearance of the new Punchline character will be in Batman #89 while she will make her first full appearance in Year of the Villain: Hell Risen #3.
Batman #89 is released on February 19, 2020.
Year of the Villain: Hell Risen #3 is released on February 26, 2020.
