The Superbowl Commercial Effect: Wandavision and Loki

.

Last night was the 54th NFL Superbowl and as always there were some very interesting commercials. One of those commercials was a 30 second spot promoting the Disney Plus streaming service, showing live action video from the upcoming Winter Soldier and Falcon, Wandvision and Loki series. You can watch the full commercial here. While this commercial was only 30 seconds long there are two books that have benefited greatly from speculation surrounding this video.

In a clip from the upcoming Wandavision series, The Scarlet Witch can be seen pregnant. While there is no indication of who her children are – the birth issue of the Vision and Scarlet Witch Series, The Vision and Scarlet Witch #12 has jumped up in price. This book is currently selling for $30 to $40 in high grade condition.

Another book that has seen a spike of interest is Thor #372. At one point in the commercial, Loki appears in a black jumpsuit with the initials TVA.

Speculation surrounding these initials is that it stands for the “Time Variance Authority”. The Time Variance Authority were created by Walter Simonson and Sal Buscema. The Time Variance Authority is an organization that claims to have the responsibility of monitoring the Marvel multiverse and its various timelines – policing the timelines from altering the past, future and present. The Time Variance Authority first appeared in Thor #372, published in 1986, a book that has seen a very large spike of interest over the past 24 hours.

  • Kinda cool seeing all these great Copper Age books getting looked at again! It looks like Loki’s adventure will be a continuation from ‘Endgame’, when he grabbed the cosmic cube and vanished! Can’t wait to see what kind of devilish merriment he gets into 🙂
