News broke earlier today from Deadline that Skybound Entertainment and Universal Pictures are teaming up to bring the Top Cow / Image comic book Stealth to the big screen. This project has Robert Kirkman and Marc Silvestri producing with Lee Daniels signed on to direct. Lee Daniels is best known for directing the film Precious and for being “G-Checked” by Damon Dash at a Diana Ross concert.

Stealth was first published as a one-shot comic book as part of the Top Cow Pilot Season series. Pilot Season was an annual initiative started by Marc Silvestri and Top Cow Comics in 2007 – where readers would vote on the future of six one-shot pilot comic book series. The Test, Hardcore and The Beauty are just some titles that first appeared in the Top Cow Pilot Season.

Stealth was well received when it was published in 2010 but it never went anywhere. Skybound has since announced that a series based on the original Top Cow Stealth #1 one-shot will begin publication in March of 2020.

Before the Pilot Season issue of Stealth #1 was released (in May of 2010) Image released a one dollar preview issue of all of the 2010 Pilot Season issues – Pilot Season: Declassified #1. This preview book was published in October of 2009 and features a preview of Stealth. This book is the first appearance of the Stealth series and characters.  While all the affordable copies of the Stealth first issue have disappeared off of various online marketplaces you can still grab copies of the preview book that features the series first appearance.
