Not only did Marvel introduce a new character in the pages of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #13, they put out a release through Diamond for retailers about the character. Miles Morales: Spider-Man #13 sees the first appearance of Billie Morales – Miles Morales new baby sister. She makes a one page appearance (seen below in the press release image) and shows up in the solicitations of the next four issues. Here is an exerpt from the letter,

“As if Spider-Man doesn’t have enough on his plate, he will now have to take on all the responsibilities and adventures that come with being a big brother! In today’s landmark issue of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #13 (OCT190988), Miles welcomed his new baby sister, Billie Mariana Morales, giving the young hero yet another reason to protect the world as Spider-Man!”

Normally I wouldn’t look past a character like this. Its not like the powers of Spider-Man are passed on to relatives like with Superman – However – for Marvel to go to the effort of putting out this release and looking at the solicitations for the next few issues you can see that this new character is prominent in the upcoming story-lines. While we don’t have a description of the story for Miles Morales: Spider-Man #16 – we do have the cover art which is a big indication this character isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Mile Morales: Spider-Man #13 was released this week (December 11, 2019) and upon Marvel sending out this release the first printing sold out at the distribution level. This book has three covers and they’re all currently selling well above cover price.
