MORE of The Most Dysfunctional X-Men

.

A few days ago we wrote about the new Marvel X-Men title being released in 2020 and how the Marvel twitter account was slowing announcing the members of this new X-Men team. Marvel is calling the team “The Most Dysfunctional X-Men”.

Today Marvel released a new image announcing two new members of the team. Yesterday Marvel announced the characters Nanny and Orphan Maker – today they have added Mr. Sinister and the Scalphunter.

The first appearance of Mr. Sinister, Uncanny X-Men #221, has seen a lot of speculative interest over the past three years but the Scalphunter character has been very underutilized by Marvel. The Scalphunter first appears in Uncanny X-Men #210 as the leader of the Marauders (Who also first appear in this issue) – this is a three panel appearance where the character is in the shadows. This character makes what I would consider a full appearance in Uncanny X-Men #211. Both of these books were published in 1986.

While I don’t think these books have long term legs, both Uncanny X-Men #210 and #211  currently sell for under $10 and I could see that changing for a few weeks after the release of this new series in March 2020.

What do you think? is this more flash in the pan speculation from yours truly? Let me know in the comments or on social media.

  • I always looked at Scalphunter as the evil MacGuyver of comic books lol, slapping together spare parts to form weapons. Issue #210 has always been a perennial good seller as the debut of the Marauders, which of course led to the infamous Mutant Massacre…which eventually led to the retcon revealing of Gambit’s darkest moment in #350 -which came full circle showing his ties to Mr Sinister! (whew!). I guess as a collector it would be worth it to find all those issues together to complete that particular saga. (#210 – #213, #221, #266, #350).
