Hello and welcome to the week in review on Comicbookspeculation.com – home of the original week in review – where we go over all of the hot books being released to comic book stores this week. These books are being released on November 13, 2019.

After a few slow weeks this week should help put you back into the Wednesday Warrior mode. Lets start with Far Sector #1. Far-Sector #1 is the all new Green Lantern murder mystery book that comes out this week. I think this book could have some potential when you consider the HBO Green Lantern series. As of right now DC and HBO haven’t announced the title or the premise for the new Green Lantern Series so I find the timing of this new Green Lantern series questionable. In Far Sector #1 we will be introduced to Sojourner “Jo” Mullein an all new female Green Lantern character that we’ve never seen before. I think this book is worth picking up based on this first appearance alone. Far Sector #1 has three covers and all of them have already had several sales online hovering around $10 each.

Another book that comes out this week that has some buzz around it is the new Boom Studios series Folklords. Forklords is written by Matt Kindt and features artwork by Matt Smith. This series was originally solicited as a five part mini-series and the first issue has already gone into third print. The regular #1 hasn’t been selling above cover and while there are several store variants for this number #1 issue the big winner seems to be the one per store variant that has been selling for $50 to $100 online. There is also a 1 in 25 variant cover that has a few sales online around $40.  BELOW: The 1:25 is on the left and the 1 per store variant is on the right.

My last speculative pick for this week is the 1:25 variant cover for Usagi Yojimbo #6. This is the 6th Volume of Usagi Yojimbo and this variant cover features artwork by Geoff Darrow. I don’t think there are a lot of stores that order 25 copies of this book which is why I think this book will be very hard to come by. There have been two presale sales so far, one at $10 and one at $40.

This week the Punisher is back and he’s being written once again by fan favorite Garth Ennis. This is a book that I’ve been looking forward to since it was originally solicited. Punisher Soviet is a six part series written by Garth Ennis and featuring artwork by Jacen Burrows of the original Crossed series. While I don’t think this book is a great speculator book I do think this book will help previous Garth Ennis Punisher key books like The Punisher Destroys the Marvel Universe One-shot which we wrote a spotlight on a few weeks ago.

The last book I want to talk about is Family Tree #1. This book is published by Image Comics and it is written by Jeff Lemire and features artwork by Phil Hester. I spoke to Jeff Lemire over this past weekend at a book signing for Frogcathcers and I asked him if Royal City had been optioned and he indicated that several companies had inquired but he has turned all of them down. It’s safe to say that almost all Jeff Lemire comic books are fair game to be optioned, which is why I suggest picking up at least one copy of Family Tree #1 this week.
