On Wednesday (October 23, 2019) Marvel released information about a new five part mini-series titled Avengers of the Wastelands. This series spins out of the pages of the Old Man Logan Universe and the released cover art features three characters – a young Hulk, a new Ant-Man character and an all-new female Thor.

This new female Thor is Danielle Cage – the daughter of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Danielle Cage first appeared in the Brian Michael Bendis written comic The Pulse #13 from 2004. This book has already gained some traction online in the past few weeks as Danielle Cage had been an integral part to the recently finished Dead Man Logan series.

While this book is Danielle Cage’s first appearance she’s only a child. I think another book that you should be looking for is her first appearance as Thor. On the last page of Dead Man Logan #11 she picks up Mjölner for the first time and transforms into the new Thor character. This is continued into Dead Man Logan #12 – the last issue of the series and the issue leading up to Avengers of the Wastelands #1.

I think now is a great time to be looking for and buying up both the first appearance of this character and the first appearance of her as Thor. Depending on how Marvel uses her these books could perform very well long term. Also, with the female Thor film gearing up for production I think these books and this character have a high probability of being around for some time.
