Sometimes after a book is optioned it starts to cool down after a few weeks until more news comes out about its production. This is going to be the case with Image Comic’s Bitter Root.

It was announced in March of this year that Bitter Root had been acquired by Legendary Pictures. Legendary Pictures is known for John Wick, the recent Godzilla films and more. As far as Bitter Root is concerned, today Deadline reported in an exclusive story that Legendary Pictures had signed on Ryan Coolger to produce. Ryan Coolger is known for co-writing and producing the Creed and Black Panther films. It seems that based on the subject matter of Bitter Root he’d be a perfect fit for the adaptation.

Bitter Root #1 was released on November 14, 2018. This title has a second print #1 and five non-ratio covers for the first print first issue – including a virgin art variant. The virgin cover seems to be selling for $20+ in raw Near Mint condition – and the other covers arn’t far behind it.

Right now the book that seems to be seeing the most interest is the store exclusive ebay variant cover that features homage cover artwork for the 1988 Manga Akira.

Since the news broke of Ryan Coolger signing on to the film several CGC 9.8 copies have sold on ebay.
