In Batman Beyond #37 we are going to be introduced to an all new Batman Beyond – a female Batman Beyond. This is the first time a female has been Batman Beyond. Based on the descriptions of future issues found in the Diamond solicitations this story takes place for a few issues leading into 2020. This comes a little over a year after DC introduced a female scarecrow character in Batman Beyond #22.

The official DC solicitation for Batman Beyond #37 reads, “In the wake of his fateful showdown with False Face and the Splitt, the Batman of tomorrow has gone missing! With the Caped Crusader AWOL and Neo-Gotham facing the threat of one of the deadliest villains it’s ever known, a new hero is needed! Bruce Wayne will turn to friends both old and new in order to keep his city safe, but that won’t be enough. Fortunately, a new and mysterious protector will arrive on the scene, taking flight to save the city! “

There has been some speculation of who this female is and if shes a new character or an already established character taking on the Batman Beyond mantle. While I’m not sure who it will be, Nico (from The Comic Book War Podcast and Nico’s Weekend Update) has stated he thinks Maxine Gibson could be a great candidate. Her first appearance is in Batman Beyond Volume 1 #12.  I’m not sure who this character is but I’m sure the first appearance of this character and the first appearance of this new Batman Beyond are going to be books that are sought after in the next few weeks.
