Week in Review: September 11

Hello and welcome to the week in review – where we go over all of the hot books being released to comic book stores this week. These books are being released on September 11, 2019.

Following the X-Men trend we’ve been seeing over the past few weeks, Powers of X #4 is selling well online. The Connecting cover is the stand out favorite, currently hovering around $10+ while the regular covers and the character design variants are selling just above cover price. There are also several high end ratio variants for all of the Hickman Powers of X / House of X titles.

Another Marvel title that has been seeing some attention online is Venom #18. This book started to sell well after Key Collector put out an alert showing a last page spoiler from the book. This title has a regular cover, an “Immortal” variant cover as well as a 1:25 variant cover. While the regular cover has been selling well online, selling for $8 to $12 – the 1:25 cover has been selling for $30 to $60. Depending on how the comic community reacts to the events in Venom #18 this could be a good book to be holding onto.Space

This week marvel has released a new batch of wraparound variant covers inspired by the 1:25 variant for the second print of Immortal Hulk #16. Some of these feature questionable artwork where characters are morphing into other characters, like the Immortal Hulk #23 or King Thor #1 covers, while others like the Moon Knight Annual #1 Pasqual Ferry cover or the Daredevil #11 Khoi Pham cover capture the true personalities of the titled characters. Some of these covers have sold out at the distribution level, however, I can’t stress enough that I think you should shy away from covers where you think the art might be of questionable taste. If you are going to buy any of the “immortal” variant covers I suggest only purchasing copies you have no problem holding onto in your own personal collections.

Two more books released this week are the second print for Something is Killing the Children #1 and the fourth print for Once and Future #1. Both of these books seem to be selling well online. The first prints of both of these titles have started to cool down since the initial releases – I would expect these second and fourth print variants to follow the same trend.

That is your week in review! Let me know in the comments (or on social media)  if I missed any books you think are spec worthy!
