Hollywood Daze: Marvel’s Helstrom

Marvel’s Helstrom television series is set to debut on Hulu in 2020. Today some rumors came out from reliable sources saying that Satana will be appearing in the series and she will be part of the Spirits of Vengeance. This news is going to move the comic book needle so here are the books you should be looking for.

Satana first appears in the Marvel Universe in Vampire Tales #2. Vampire Tales was published by Marvel Comics in the magazine format in 1973. High grade copies can easily go for $100 plus online – The last CGC 9.6 copy sold for $700  (August 2019) and the last 9.8 sold for $1330 (July 2019).

Since Satana is supposed to be part of the Spirits of Vengeance in the Helstrom series it is fair to say you shouldn’t be picking up copies of the first appearance of the character – The Spirit of Vengeance (Wileaydus Autolycus) – an alternate reality Ghost Rider character that appeared in the Guardians of the Galaxy comics.

In the comic book universe, Ghost Rider and Blaze make up a team to take down Lilith and her children. This happens in Ghost Rider #28 from 1992 and the story is continued in the first volume of Spirits of Vengeance #1. Ghost Rider #28 also features the first appearance of Lilith – a character that would be great as a villain in any upcoming marvel project.

These are both books you should be thinking about.  Let me know in the comments (or on social media)  if I missed any books you think are spec worthy!
