SDCC Roundup Part 2: Marvel Phase 4
Thanks Nico and Sleepy John for your help with this and all of my previous SDCC 2019 posts.
Marvel announced Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic Con. While they didn’t announce any new movies for phase 4 they did confirm actors, titles of films, release dates and one or two new characters.
The Hawkeye Disney Plus series features Clint Barton teaching someone else how to be a hero with no powers. It was also mentioned that Kate Bishop will be appearing in the series – This has resulted in another jump in price for Young Avengers #1 the first appearance of Kate Bishop.
Marvel also announced that the Doctor Strange sequel will be the first Marvel horror film – one can assume this means the New Mutants film is dead locked somewhere inside of the Disney vault. Marvel also announced a new Blade film with Mahershala Ali playing the title character – this has renewed interest in the first appearance of Blade, Tomb of Dracula #10.
As far as the Black Widow film is concerned, Marvel confirmed Yelena Belova and after they announced the casting of actress Rachel Weiz, she revealed to Entertainment Weekly that she will be playing Melina Vostokoff AKA Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden first appeared in Marvel Fanfare #11 which has jumped from selling for $3 to $10 to $15 overnight.
