SDCC Roundup Part 1: THOR
Yesterday was the most anticipated panel of this years San Diego Comic Con – The Marvel Panel. This panel was so filled with news that I can’t talk about all of it in one post. One of the announcements was the title of fourth installment of Thor with the return of a few fan favorite characters. Thor 4 is to be titled, Thor: Love and Thunder and sees the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Taika Waititi is returning to direct this film and was quoted as saying “That story line is incredible is full emotion, love and thunder and introduces for the first time female Thor.” The Jane Foster news and in particular the female Thor news has caused a few books to start selling online.
Jane Foster first appears in Journey into Mystery #84 from 1962 but its the Jason Aaron written Thor books that have seen a sudden spurge of interest. The 2014 series featuring Jane Foster taking on the Thor title seems to be seeing the most interest. The first issue has several ratio variants including 1 in 75 and 1 in 300 variants. The last issue of the preceding series, Thor God of Thunder (Issue #25), features a one page panel appearance of Jane Foster as Thor. Like the first issue of Thor #1 (2014) this book has been selling well online.
Another book that features Jane Foster as Thor is What if #10. This book, published in 1978, features an alternate universe where Jane Foster becomes Thor. In the last few years this book has seen various spikes of sales – since this news broke several copies have sold for above $100.

I’d stay away from the 1:75 and 1:300 she’s not on the cover. The 1:50 is the highest ratio Jane appears on the cover for Thor #1.
