Week in Review: February 20
Pretty big news came out today from Marvel through Deadline.com. Today it was announced that Disney would be making an animated TV-series starring Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Devil Dinosaur has been around since the 70’s but Moon Girl is a fairly new character, first appearing in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 in 2015. There is also a 1:25 variant for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 which today has been selling for $75 to $100. Devil Dinosaur first appears in 1978’s Devil Dinosaur #1.
In December Marvel announced its next major story event, launching in March of 2018, would be based on the reintroduction of the Green Goblin. Marvel announced the new event would be based around a new character, “The Red Goblin”. The last issue of Amazing Spider-Man, Issue #795, features Carnage merging with Norman Osborn. This revelation that Norman Osborn was about to become the new Red Goblin resulted in the book selling out and selling for $15 to $20 online. The assumption was the next issue, out this week, Amazing Spider-man #796, would feature the first appearance of the Red Goblin. Based on that it has already sold out at the distributor level and has been selling online in presale for up to $15. Amazing Spider-Man #796 does not feature the new Red Goblin Character. The Red Goblin does appear on the Comixposure store variant for Amazing Spider-Man #796. These would be considered the first cover appearance of the character, similar to the Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #2 Gwenpool situation.
