Week in Review: February 10

Very low turn out for new comics this week. There’s one you should pick up and the rest is old, catch-up news.

The book to look for this week is Action Lab’s new, ‘Edgar Allan Poe’ inspired book, “The House of Montresor #1“. This book is already selling for a few dollars above cover online. Based on Action Lab’s low presence in many comic book stores and the perception of a small print run – this could quickly become a $10 book by weeks end.

This week also sees the release of the third issue of DC / IDW’s Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Hopefully, retailers ordered enough copies this time around as issue #2 has been a hot comodity since the week of release. It’s currently selling on average for $15. Easy money can be made on Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2, not to mention the 1:25 Variant cover is selling for upwards of $80 online!

The final piece of news that came out this week was the pick up by Fox of the Boom Studios property, “The Empty Man“, for film adaptation. Many have jumped on these issues already online – taking most of the cover priced and reasonably priced copies on eBay. However, this book is still very attainable in the wild. There are two variant covers, a SDCC and a rarer 1:20 variant (currently on sale at MIDTOWN COMICS – one per customer at $17.50). These are the books that will benefit most from this adaptation news.

BONUS PIECE: There is a rumoured second final cut scene in the Deadpool film that has been confirmed by the Director of the film – this final post credits scene will only be shown after the movie hits general public audiences. – This site came out today to confirm that a Deadpool sequel had been given the green light and “confirmed” the appearance of Cable in the second film – alleging the cut scene could possibly feature Cable. As a result, many websites are reporting the news of Cables appearance in Deadpool 2 film. Aside from New Mutants 87 (the first appearance of Cable), there’s another book to be thinking about that Marvel recently republished as a dollar issue. That’s the Cable and Deadpool #1 from 2004, the first on-going series featuring both characters outside of the X-force team-up. Currently at $20, this is a book worth holding on to.
