Now that Diamond has reopened and comic book publishers are steadily releasing books again I thought it was time I brought back the Week in Review segment! This is your week in review for May 27, 2020!

Peach Momoko is the breakout artist of the year. This week sees the release of the third issue of Evan Dorkin’s Dark Horse series, Blackwood: The Mourning After. This issue has a cover B variant featuring artwork by Momoko. In presale this cover has been selling online for $30 to $40.

Another book that has sold out at the retailer level and on a few comic book websites is the IDW / Marvel collaboration – Marvel Action: Avengers #10. This book features the first appearance of what has been described in comic solicitations as the “Yellow Hulk”. While this book has one or two sales around $20 – it is currently still available at cover price on the IDW website. There is also a one in ten incentive variant cover for this issue featuring artwork by Luca Claretti.

A few months ago I wrote about how Donny Cates was introducing a new character called Virus into the pages of Venom – with the character first appearing in Marvels Free Comic Book Day offering, a story which would continue in Venom #25. With Free Comic Book Day being cancelled this year so was the Marvel book which means this weeks release of Venom #25 is the first appearance of this new character. Donny Cates has been a speculation power house since hitting the comic book scene so it wouldn’t surprise me if this book and character took of in the next few months. This book has several ratio variant covers including a 1:200 virgin variant.
