Spotlight on Kevin Eastman’s Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls

Thank you to Paul W for your help with this article.

In August of 2017, Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched a kickstarter for the first volume of a new graphic novel titled Drawing Blood. Drawing Blood is a fictional book about a comic creator whose small print indie comic, Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls #1, quickly became a huge success. This book is best described as a parody of the creation and development of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with some true to life elements mixed in.robert

Drawing Blood Volume one was successfully funded and backers of the kickstarter started to receive their backer rewards at the beginning of this year. The kickstarter graphic novel has several covers including a variant cover by film director Robert Rodriguez. Now that the kickstarter is over and all of the backers have received their rewards, Drawing Blood is being released as a four part mini-series starting in May being distributed by Diamond Comics.

As part of the kickstarter fundraiser one of the stretch goals was if the campaign raised more than $100,000 they would be publishing the parody comic book Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls #1 for all backers – with three variant covers. On the last day of fundraising they hit this goal.

On August 8 of 2019 through Diamond Kevin Eastman Studios is releasing a new version of Radically Rearranged Ronin Ragdolls #1, with six covers. Its very possible that the publication of this series through diamond will push people to look for the original kickstarter variants. While funding for the kickstarter ended in August of 2017, you can still pick up copies of some of the kickstarter variant covers directly from Kevin Eastman’s website.
