Hollywood Daze: Killadelphia

.

We first spoke about this a few months ago on the Comic Book Wars podcast when the comic books author Rodney Barnes told Anthony Hammock of Comics Heating Up that his Image Comic Book Series Killadelphia had been optioned by a Hollywood Studio.

.

This week it was announced through an “exclusive” article on Deadline.com that Levantine Films had acquired the rights to Killadelphia and with the help of Rodney Barnes would be adapting the series for television. Rodney Barnes was a writer on American Gods and Marvel’s Runaways so with him participating with the adaptation I have high hopes for the series. Levantine Films is best known for producing the Oscar winning film Hidden Figures.

While the first issue of Killadelphia was released on November 27, 2019 – it is very important to note that the Local Comic Shop Day variant was released on November 23, 2019 – making it the true first appearance of the title and series.

Another book to be aware of is the one in twenty-five ratio variant cover for the first issue featuring artwork by Francesco Mattina. While there is also a limited to 500 “Virgin” store variant of this cover – I prefer the one in twenty five ratio trade dress.

What do you think? Is this TV show ever going to see the light of day or was all of this predictable as suggested in our Week in Review article from when the issue first came out? Let me know in the comments or on social media!
