Hollywood Insider Daniel Richtman reported earlier this week that HBO is developing a Rose and Thorn film for the HBO Max streaming platform. This would be the first HBO Max DC Movie adaptation. While this news is still in the unconfirmed rumor stage, Daniel Richtman has a great track record with insider scoops.

Rose and Thorn is the superhero persona of Rose Canton. Rose is a female Jekyll and Hyde character who has split personalities and the ability to control plants. She first appeared in Flash #89 from 1947. Originally Rose and Thorn were sisters – they were introduced as one character “Rose and The Thorn” in Superman’s Girlfriend Lois Lane #105 in 1970.

While the Rose and Thorn character has a few mini-series, a few websites are saying that this film will be based on the New 52 teenage version of Rose and Thorn who first appeared in the 2012 comic, National Comics Rose and Thorn #1 (One-Shot). While there have not been any noteworthy sales of this particular issue, all reasonably priced copies of this book have disappeared from various online marketplaces, making it a great book to be looking for in the wild.
