In the late 80’s and early 80’s Daniel Johnston was a local musician who mostly played shows and sold cassettes of his music in Austin, Texas. Johnston’s cassettes would contain original artwork by him. Johnston was propelled into cult status when Kurt Cobain of Nirvana was seen in a shirt with Johnston’s artwork. Cobain was often seen wearing this shirt.

In September of this year Johnston unfortunately died at the age of 58. Johnston’s death seems to have renewed interest in his work and projects. In May of 2012 Johnston released “Space Ducks: An Infinite Comic Book of Musical Greatness” – a 96 page oversized hardcover book.

This book was published by the now defunct Boom Studios imprint – Boom Town. This book has sold out at most online retailers – right now the only copies available on ebay are signed copies at exorbitant prices. Over the last month copies have sold online from $40 to $70. This book has a $20 cover price and its very possible its sitting on the shelf of your local comic book shop. Happy hunting!
