A look at 2000AD Magazine

.

2000 AD is a weekly British comic book series that was launched in 1977. Most of the content in this comic sized magazine featured science fiction and fantasy stories with commentary on pop culture and world politics. Many established comic book legends have contributed to this periodical including Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Alan Davis, Grant Morrison, and Garth Ennis. Over the 2100+ issue run of 2000 AD magazine there are numerous issues that sell well online because of their content. Almost all of these are printed in a way that makes them ineligible for grading by CGC or CBCS.
.
Here are just a few issues that I would like to highlight.
.
The first issue of 2000 AD was published in February of 1977 and featured a Dan Dare story. This book came with a “space-spinner” frisbee and can sell for $800 to $1000.

2000 AD #228 published in 1981 features the first appearance of Rouge Trooper. Rouge Trooper is a genetically engineered, blue skinned super-soldier created by Dave Gibbons and Gerry Finley Day. While there hasn’t been a Rouge Trooper film or TV-Show, this character has been adapted several times in video game mediums starting with the 1986 Rouge Tropper First Person Computer CD-Rom and has several comic book series.

.

2000 AD #376 is a solid $30 book featuring the first appearance of and first part of the Ballad of Halo Jones. The Ballad of Halo Jones was a science fiction comic strip by writer Alan Moore and artist Ian Gibson – this entire series was reprinted several times – and once in color for the American audience.

One last 2000 AD book that I like (and that I think is underpriced) is the first appearance of D.R. and Quinch – the Alan Moore / Alan Davis alien duo that have many college inspired adventures. They first appeared in 2000 AD #317 and had their very own story published in 2000 AD #350.
