Deadline just put out a release stating that the Image Comics 2018 title, The  New World, has been optioned by Warner Brother Pictures who are planning to adapt the comic book series as a feature length film. The New World was written by Ales Kot and features artwork by Heather Moore and Tradd Moore. The series ran for 5 issues and each issue had numerous covers.

The Original solicitation for The New World #1 describes it as “The United States of America-after the Second Civil War. Two lovers meet. One: a straight-edge vegan hacker anarchist boy with a penchant for messing with the State. The other: a chaotic, hedonistic cop with a reality TV show and a license to kill. This really shouldn’t happen-and yet, somehow, it does. And soon, the entire state of New California is after them“.

Deadline has reported that playwrite Jeremy O. Harris best known for his stage plays Daddy and Slave Play would be writing the films script. While copies of The New World #1 are still available online – most of the copies at or below cover price have vanished off most online marketplaces.
