The Hand-Made The Last God Book #1 Special Wax Embossed Variant by DC Comics

DC released a new title under their Black Label imprint this week, The Last God Book 1, and this book has a very limited and hard to find variant cover that no one seems to be talking about.

The Last God is one of the first black label new releases that isn’t in the larger magazine size format. This book is written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and features artwork by Ricardo Federici, Dean White and Jared Blando. This is the description used in the original solicitation for the book “THE LAST GOD tells the story of two fellowships of heroes struggling with the same threat…30 years apart. One group will doom their world, the other must save it.”

DC released a special edition variant cover that features a handmade cut cover and a wax emboss. Only a small number of copies of this very special variant cover were produced and they were only distributed to members of the press and high ranking members of DC Staff, including Brian Michael Bendis.

DC’s PR team released a few videos on social media of the production of these covers where you can see them ripping up covers, pouring wax on the covers and using a special wax seal. I’m not sure how many of these were produced but the numbers has to be small. This variant cover could very well be the lowest print run of any of the Black Label books. I’m not sure if any of these are going to hit the secondary market but I do think it’s something the comic community should be aware of.

smh….thats not a variant cover, it’s a slipcase
If it becomes expensive I wonder if we will see counterfeits.
