There had been some rumblings earlier in October about the new Guardians of the Galaxy team that was announced for the relaunch comic book to be released in January 2020. This week we were given our first glimpse into what this team will actually look like and as previously rumored it looks like Marvel Boy is finally being brought back into use.use.

The new Guardians of the Galaxy #1 is being written by Al Ewing (Immortal Hulk) and features artwork by Juann Cabal (Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man). When the cover artwork was first released a few months ago people started to point out that the character on the cover looks an awfully lot like an updated version of the Marvel Boy. But when I look at the variant covers for this book that were recently released I think its hard to argue that this is most likely this character.

The current Marvel Boy, who at one point was a member of the Young Avengers, is Noh-Varr. He first appeared in the 2000 book Marvel Boy #1 written by Grant Morrison featuring artwork by J.G Jones. He did appear in a sketch book a few month prior to Marvel Boy #1 in the Wizard Comics marvel Knights Marvel Boy Genesis. This is a flip-book with a Marvel Boy backcover.
