News came out this week about two comic book properties being optioned by various companies.

The first is Planet of the Nerds from Ahoy Comics. Is this the first Ahoy showed up on the scene in 2018 and have steadily made a name for themselves publishing books like A Second Comic and Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror. Yesterday The Hollywood Reporter reported that the film rights for Planet of the Nerds had been acquired by Paramount Players. This appears to be the first Ahoy Comics title to get the Hollywood treatment.

Since the news broke the first issue, Planet of the Nerds #1, has gone for barely selling for cover price to selling for as much as $20. This is a book you should be looking for at your local comic book store.

The other title that has optioning buzz this week is The Boom Studios series The Woods. On Thursday night Stephen Christy the President of Development for Boom Studios tweeted an image of screenplay for the pilot episode of “The Woods”. This title was already optioned but now it looks like progress is actually being made with the project.

This has caused many speculators to run and try to secure copies of the first issue of the Woods. The Woods had two ratio variant covers as well as a few store and convention variant covers. The two ratio variants are 1 in 9 and 1 in 25 so I would say these are probably the best books to look for if you want to speculate on this title.
