Week in Review: December 5

In terms of speculation there are a few variant covers that are seeing a lot of attention, one of them is the Uncanny X-Men #4 1:100 Variant cover. This cover features artwork by Mark Brooks – this isn’t the first time this artwork was published, this cover is reused artwork from a 2010 Sideshow statue. This variant has been selling for $140 to $200.

Another variant that has been selling above its ratio is the Defenders Immortal Hulk #1 1:50 variant cover. This book features a cover by Adi Granov and has multiple sales online at $70 to $80.

This week also sees the release of the second issue of the Source Point Press series, Ogre. This book has been selling for $7 to $10.

This last week there has been a lot of movie related speculation. This week advanced screenings were held for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film and reports are out that the film features an end credit scene leading to the next film featuring Spider-Man 2099. This has brought a lot of attention to two books, Spider-Man 2099 #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #365 which features a 5 page preview of Spider-Man 2099 and predates the #1 issue. Over the past few years these books have average sale prices of under $5. It is also worth noting that there is a toybiz variant of Spider-Man 2099 #1 that has recently been selling for $80 to $100 in raw condition. This “Second Print” variant was only made available inside of a Toybiz figure package.

Another character that has started to see an increase of interest is Shang-Chi The Master of Kung Fu. This week news came out that Marvel was fast tracking a Shang-Chi film. There is also speculation that he could appear in the fourth Avengers film. This has brought a lot of attention to his first appearance Special Marvel Edition #15 from 1973.
